Professional Focus

Massimo’s practice focuses on European and Italian competition law. Massimo has advised and represented clients in connection with competition law matters before the European Courts in Luxembourg (Court of Justice of the European Union and General Court), the Italian civil and administrative Courts, the European Commission and the Italian Antitrust Authority.

In the cartel enforcement area he has assisted the Legal Service of the European Commission in enforcing decisions imposing fines to cartel members both before the European and Italian Courts.

Furthermore, Massimo has advised and assisted clients in several cases of abuse of dominant position and State aid.

He has gained a wide-ranging experience as litigator also in other sectors of European Law, such as public procurement, food law and safety, customs and free movement of goods.

Recent work in the cartel enforcement area

Massimo is currently assisting the Legal Service of the European Commission before the General Court in Luxembourg in connection with the enforcement of the Commission’s decision imposing fines to members of a cartel in the concrete reinforcing bar sector.

Background

Massimo is a member of the Venice Bar and the Brussels Bar. He has been active as a lawyer since 1989 and is established in Brussels since 1992. He owns a master’s degree in European Judicial Studies (Institute of Public Administration - The European Centre for Judges and Lawyers – Luxembourg, 1994/1995). He is regularly invited to hold lectures on European Law to postgraduate law students.
